Home Group Recap: 10/5

Hi Students & Parents,

We had a great second week of Youth Home Group tonight as we continued our Faith with Momentum series! This week, we talked about reading the Bible and how spending even a little bit of time in Scripture each day can make a difference over time. We used Duolingo streaks as an example of how small things, done consistently, build momentum.

We looked at Psalm 119:105:

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path,”

and talked about how God’s Word can give us direction as we navigate life.

One thing we talked about is that a lamp doesn’t usually light up the entire road ahead, it gives you enough light to see your next step. I love that picture because so much of life, especially as a student, can feel like trying to figure out what’s next. We may not always know exactly where we’re going, but Scripture reminds us who God is, who we are, and how God calls us to live. The more time we spend in God’s Word, the more it begins to shape the way we treat people, handle difficult situations, make decisions, and see ourselves.

So our challenge for this week is to start a Bible streak! Nothing crazy - just spend about five minutes each day reading a chapter or even a few verses. As you read, ask yourself:

“What does this tell me about God?” and

“What might God be showing me through this?”

My hope is that these small habits we’re practicing together become more than just a challenge for a few weeks and help each of us continue growing closer to God. Remember, Small things, done consistently, build momentum!

See you next Monday at 5pm at the Malone’s home!

Grace and peace,
-Ben
