Home Group Recap: 9/28

Hi Students & Parents,

This week at Monday Night Home Group, we kicked off our Faith with Momentum series by talking about prayer. We looked at Jonah 2:1-10, where Jonah prays to God from inside the fish after running away from what God had called him to do. Jonah’s prayer reminded us that prayer doesn’t have to be something we only turn to when everything goes wrong-it can be our first response, not just our last resort. We focused on three things we can learn from Jonah: be specific, be honest, and trust God. We can tell God what’s actually happening, be real about how we’re feeling, thank Him for what He’s already given us, and trust Him with what happens next.

Our challenge this week is to start a seven-day prayer streak by spending just a couple of minutes talking with God each day. If you’re not sure what to pray about, start with three questions:

What am I thankful for?

What am I worried about?

What do I need God’s help with?

One two-minute prayer might seem small, but small things, done consistently, build momentum. Our hope is that these seven days are just the beginning of making prayer a natural part of our everyday lives!

See you next Monday at 5pm at the Malone’s home!

Grace and peace,
-Ben
